“The whole MPs thing started a long time ago and people kept harping on it for about a decade.” Gyan told Onua TV.
“Even in my playing days, these offers were always on the table. Even my dad was aware of it. Now I don’t play and I’m back home and if I want to do it, of course I can do it.
“Bawumia’s running mate? I haven’t heard anything like that, you’re the one who says it. I do not know anything about that. Is that where they’re taking me now? But it would be an honor. Everyone wants to be honest. “Who would reject the position of Vice President?”
Gyan took a bold step into politics when he was announced as part of the ruling NPP’s campaign team ahead of the 2024 elections.
In February, the former Sunderland striker was appointed chairman of the party’s Youth and Sports sub-committee under deputy chairman Dr Bawumia, who is the NPP’s flag bearer.
Meanwhile, Gyan recently revealed that he would have become a lawyer or a musician if he hadn’t ended up being a footballer.
The retired footballer achieved the latter, having released some hit songs with his now-defunct friend Castro in the early 2010s.
However, he believes that he could also have been a great lawyer and explains that he is very good at winning arguments.
Speaking to 3FM, Ghana’s all-time leading goalscorer was asked what profession he would have ventured into if he had not become a footballer.
Gyan replied, “A musician or a lawyer, because you never beat me in arguments. You never win. “I always find a way to win.”
When asked if he would consider going to law school, Gyan added: “Maybe. Never say Never. Now we are focusing on the Regional Games and we want to change the sporting fraternity, we want the other generation to benefit from it.”
Gyan officially announced his retirement in June last year after a career that spanned more than two decades.
