Presidential candidate and leader of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, on Thursday inaugurated the 2024 National Campaign Team and the Party’s Manifesto Committee respectively.
The campaign team is chaired by former Minister of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development, Dan Kwaku Botwe, and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, as Chairman of the Manifesto Committee.
Speaking at the inauguration in Accra on Thursday, Dr Bawumia called for unity among the party’s grassroots so that every member can play a role in the party’s quest to win this year’s general elections.
He said that the party had the vision and the ideas, while the necessary ingredients to win the elections were in place, and that the only element needed to propel the party to victory was unity.
In addition, he said, all past and current party executives would take part.
“We have more than 40,000 polling stations and we want activities in all of those polling stations, so we want all members to fully participate in the campaign,” he said.
Dr Bawumia said the party’s record was strong and its vision had been clearly stated for all to see.
He said the National Democratic Congress (NDC), on the other hand, had blurred vision and did not know where they wanted to take the country.
He accused the main opposition NPP of stealing the ruling party’s ideas and announcing promises that had already been fulfilled.
“They want to make free WiFi in secondary schools (SHS); Someone should tell them it’s already been done.
A little research and they would have known that these are promising things we have already done.
“So you can see we have the best message, we have the vision and we have the track record.
While listening to the President during his speech yesterday, it was very clear that our government has outperformed the NDC government in all sectors.
I don’t see any sector where they have surpassed us,” said Dr Bawumia.
